Will Jailbreaking a PS3 Ruin It?

Like... say I wanted to download PS3 FTP Server thing so I could use Elite Mossy... would jail breaking my PS3 make me unable to use Playstation Network and Store? I'm curious because when the store comes back up, I want to be able to get my 2 free games and whatever else. Please help!
