Obama Care judicial question?

Why can Congress require Americans to have a minimum insurance coverage. In my mind, that seems like a personal choice, not one that the government can force on citizens. It's kind of like the choice to have a house, it's recommended, but you don't have to have one if you don't want one, and the government can't force you to buy or build a house of your own.
